Star Republican Women (SRW) traces its roots back to 1975, when a group of dedicated women came together to serve their communities across Llano, Burnet, and surrounding counties. What began as a small local initiative quickly grew into a recognized and influential organization.
Humble Origins
Formation of the Highland Lakes Republican Women's Club, serving the tri-county area. Carolyn Knight becomes first president.
Building Momentum
Despite geographic challenges, the organization steadily grew, reaching approximately 45 members and expanding its influence across the region.
Expanding Reach
To better serve members in southern Llano County, a new chapter was formed. The South Llano County Republican Women's Club officially launched, led by its first president, Betty Cross.
Refining Our Identity
The organization dropped the word “Club” from its name, becoming South Llano County Republican Women, reflecting a more unified and professional identity.
A New Vision
To reflect a broader geographic reach and stronger mission, the organization officially became Star Republican Women.
Continuing the Legacy
With nearly 200 members, SRW continues to play a vital role in community engagement, voter outreach, and supporting Republican leadership across multiple counties.
Beyond supporting candidates at the state and national levels, SRW has played a key role in helping elect Republicans to local offices in Llano and Burnet counties.

Today, Star Republican Women stands as a strong and growing community of over 200 engaged members committed to leadership, service, and conservative values.
